Nurse Educators

Nurse Educators are registered nurses. Many are MS-certified and are here for your patients who are prescribed TYSABRI. Nurse Educators are here to:

  • Help your patients understand what to expect during TYSABRI infusions
  • Give information that may help manage common TYSABRI side effects
  • Provide education about available resources for TYSABRI patients

A Nurse Educator can come to your office and educate your staff about how they can help support your patients on TYSABRI. Nurse Educators also communicate with you about your patients’ treatment start date and any treatment challenges they have expressed.

TYSABRI Ongoing Support Program

The optional TYSABRI Ongoing Support Program provides patients with periodic check-ins from Biogen Case Managers (Support Coordinators) and Nurse Educators to assess patients’ progress on therapy and to answer any questions they may have about their treatment with TYSABRI.b

Once patients are registered in the TOUCH® Prescribing Program, they are automatically enrolled to participate in the TYSABRI Ongoing Support Program.

  • After the patient's first TYSABRI infusion, the Nurse Educator introduces themself, asks the patient about their experience, and addresses treatment questions
  • The Nurse Educator will connect with the patient every 3 months to provide product and disease education, discuss their infusion experience, verify Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) requirements, and identify and help address barriers to treatment, including travel, financial assistance, shipments, infusions, reauthorizations, and site of care (SOC) location
  • As their 1-year anniversary on TYSABRI approaches, a Nurse Educator will check in with the patient once again and continue to follow up about every 6 months thereafter

Patients can opt out of the TYSABRI Ongoing Support Program at any time and continue to take advantage of resources offered through Biogen Support Services. Your office may also opt out of the program on behalf of your patients.

bPatient consent is required before a Biogen Case Manager or Nurse Educator can contact your patient.
